One thing I can relate to for sure, it’s not feeling confident in your body after becoming a mom. Definitely after 5 pregnancies my body is not what it used to be. Social media may be a scary place a lot of the time but I will say the body positivity and mom empowerment realness has started to shine through.
There are a lot of new moms that really struggle with their confidence. This not only happens to moms that have given birth for the first time. It can happen at any stage. It is important to realize that you are not alone. Small changes can make a big difference, and you can get your confidence back. With that being said, we are going to take a look at five tips that can help you if you are a mom who is struggling with your confidence right now.
Be aware of competitive friends – There is only one place to begin, and this is by making sure that you surround yourself with people who build you up, rather than those who want to bring you down. Unfortunately, some people can see being a mom as a competition. They think that their way of doing things is the best way and they can try and bring you down. However, there is no such thing as the “best” way. Don’t let it get to you.
Don’t cave into bad advice – You will get a lot of people who try to tell you what your child needs. Everyone seems to have the answer to everything, and it can be quite overwhelming. The truth is that there is no right way to do parenting. We have to learn as we go along. Plus, no one knows your child better than you do, so there is no reason to let others dictate to you.
Avoid bad mommy syndrome – This is where a lot of moms find themselves when their confidence is low. They deem themselves a bad mom. This can often happen if a child has hurt themselves. But let’s be honest; every child is going to hurt themselves at some point. It is simply what children do! They love getting in the walls and causing mayhem. You cannot punish yourself and you cannot wrap your child up in cotton wool all the time.
Lose the audience – If your child won’t seem to stop crying or they are causing trouble, you do not have to have an audience. Go and find a quiet place to sort out the situation.
Think about what is going to make you feel confident outside of being a parent – What would make you feel better about yourself? Could it be a new haircut? Maybe you could book yourself in and get your nails done? Why not look into dental services like teeth whitening? These are just a handful of examples. It is all about what is going to make you feel better and more confident in yourself. Whatever it is, do it; you deserve a treat and to feel amazing about yourself.
So there you have it: five of the different things that you can do if you find yourself struggling for confidence as a new mom. We hope that the information and tips we have provided will help you to get your confidence back.
I hope these tips helped you and I hope you feel a little less alone in your new body journey.
